About the Knowledge Translation Network
The Knowledge Translation Network (KTN) aims to facilitate and share learning about effective knowledge translation and dissemination activities, running in parallel to the Scottish Third Sector Research Forum, a collaborative initiative to champion the use of evidence from the third sector.
One of the issues third sector organisations (TSOs) face is making sure the evidence they collect not only demonstrates social impact but is also able to influence policy-making decisions across different policy areas, which is particularly important for prevantiative initiatives. TSOs also have to make sure that the evidence reaches those who have the power to make such decisions.
The KTN asks the questions:
- How does the third sector ensure that the information reaches intended (and unintended) audiences?
- Is there a specific process that could minimise the distance/time travelled?
- Do others manage to do so? Who are they? Can we learn from them?
Members of the KTN bring different perspectives, connections and expertise to the network to help ensure that evidence reaches its indended audience in a form that can be readily understood and accessed.
