ESS turns Sweet 16 today!

As today is our 16th birthday, what better day to look back and celebrate our successes from the past year? It was filled with growing pains, to say the least, given the challenges we all faced due to Covid-19.

Despite this, we want to shine a light on the success of our ‘Let’s Evaluate!’ programme in particular, a year on from adapting this series of workshops for online delivery. Between April 2020 and March 2021, we’ve delivered 56 online ‘Let’s Evaluate!’ workshops, attended by a total of 590 participants (across all three workshops: ‘Getting Started’; ‘Make to Measure’; ‘Telling my Story’).

From our self-evaluation of our ‘Let’s Evaluate!’ workshops, some of our key learning has been:

  • Participants learn equally well online. Our evidence tells us that participants continue to learn and take away useful next steps to improve their evaluation practice from our workshops, regardless of whether they are in-person or online.
  • A desire for more peer learning was a strong theme this year. We have adapted our workshops to allow more time for participants to talk before the workshop starts and in a separate networking session.
  • Our quick response to delivering online was well received and some participants told us they felt more confident about doing their own online delivery, got ideas from us, and learned new techniques and tools as a result of attending ‘Let’s Evaluate!’.

Much more focussed evaluation including planning for evaluation at the beginning of applying for funding. Very positive feedback on reports – feedback from Let’s Evaluate! attendee, Joanne Roddam, Home-Start East Fife

We’re so pleased we were able to continue to support you with your evaluation planning as we turned 16! And we hope to see you on our workshops when we return to in-person delivery in the coming months. Do get in touch with us if you need further evaluation support!
