This Trustees Week we’d like to thank our Trustees for their hard work and their contribution to Evaluation Support Scotland, as well as welcome our new Trustees and our new Chair.
Our board of Trustees, who are responsible for setting the vision and strategy for the organisation and overseeing the development and delivery of our strategic plan, come from a variety of backgrounds. The broad range of skills and expertise of our board members allow them to learn from each other, and use their collective experience, knowledge, and networks to take us forward.
Our board currently includes members from the Scottish Book Trust, Cancer Research UK, Scottish Prison Service, Scottish Parliament’s Legal Services, and other organisations.
Recently we said a fond farewell to board member Maxine Dinnes, who served as a trustee for six years, and to our Chair Diarmid Hearns who was a trustee since 2017 and chair from 2022. We thank Diarmid and Maxine for all their contributions and guidance, and wish them both well.
We are delighted to welcome 3 new trustees, as well as a new chair.

Ricki McLaughlin – Chair
Ricki – a chartered accountant and audit manager – has been on our board since 2020. Ricki was elected as Chair at our recent AGM.
Meet our new Trustees:
Fiona Thornton – Trustee
Fiona is Strategic Planning Manager at the National Lottery Community Fund, where she leads on corporate planning processes and collaborates closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment across directorates with the strategic priorities outlined in the Corporate Plan.

Rachael Graham – Trustee
Rachael is Head of strategic innovation at Girlguiding Scotland. Rachael’s work focuses on improving support for volunteers, and she enjoys developing and evaluating new ideas and ways of working.
Ffion Heledd – Trustee
Ffion is Assistant Director (Policy Evaluation) at the Scottish Funding Council, where she leads a team supporting and developing the organisation’s approach to evaluation and strategic insight.

Our new Trustees bring a variety of skills and expertise which are greatly valued, and we look forward to working with them!
