Using third sector research to influence policy and practice

A Policy Scotland/Third Sector Research Forum online event

Policy Scotland and Scotland’s Third Sector Research Forum hosted the virtual seminar Using third sector research to influence policy and practice with 65 people from the academic, third and public sectors on 1st June 2021.

The aim of this Policy Scotland/Third Sector Research Forum online event was to build on conversations started at the ‘Getting research heard and used: understanding and achieving policy influence’ workshop at TSRF conference, Researching Well, in February 2021. It also showcased the experience and learning of third sector organisations who have used their research to influence policy and practice.

The event comprised a short input from Policy Scotland about engaging with your policy stakeholders, followed by two speakers from third sector organisations (The Health and Social Care Alliance and the Royal Town Planning Institute) who discussed challenges and enablers to getting their research-informed voices heard more widely. This event was for researchers and those in a communications role in the third sector, academics, and others with an interest in policy influence.
