There is a huge amount of research being undertaken at this time (from March 2020) about third sector and public sector responses to Covid-19. On this page we link to research we are aware of that may be of use to third sector organisations and funders.
The ALLIANCE
The ALLIANCE’s Community in Action project has published analysis of third sector organisations’ initial response to COVID-19. The new report analyses 51 articles that were published during Community in Action’s first phase – from March to September 2020.
Campaign for Social Science
Has a hub with information on social science research in response to Covid across the UK. This hub showcases some leading examples of research, think-pieces and policy analysis across the full spectrum of the social sciences which contribute to understanding and tackling the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on society and economy.
Inclusion Scotland
Has published their survey findings on the impact of Covid-19 on disabled people. Read it here
Institute for fundraising
Has published a research report on the impact on the charity sector during coronavirus (June 2020)
National Youth Agency
Has a hub for research about youth and youth organisations and COVID-19 including a list of Covid-19 Surveys for practitioners, policy makers and young people to take part in, and keep track of the findings. This will help to provide a better understanding of how the sector can best help young people, and what support it will need to do so.
NHS Education for Scotland – The Knowledge Network
The resource page here on The Knowledge Network includes a platform for search requests, a bank of completed searches, and a comprehensive set of guidance and resources.
Policy Scotland
Has a series of urgently needed insights for public policy challenges. Policy Scotland are serving as a conduit for policy relevant knowledge, mobilising insights and evidence from Glasgow and using their contacts and networks to connect colleagues in Glasgow University with policymakers, while also bringing ideas from the best experts elsewhere in the UK and internationally about what might work to deal effectively with the public health, economic and social crises we face.
The key audience for this work is those who are wrestling with the problems that coronavirus (COVID-19) and the disruption caused to normal working have created but we also see the website as an opportunity for policy discussion between academics and policymakers.
They are developing urgently needed insights in the following policy areas:
- Community resilience and addressing disadvantage
- City economies
- Education, children and families
- Housing and infrastructure
Queen Margaret University
A multi-disciplinary team of researchers at Queen Margaret University are conducting the Support After Covid Study to understand what support people need after Covid-19 or social isolation.
The first stage was to undertake a survey conducted using Qualtrics. The second stage of the study is to engage with stakeholders.
They would like comments on their recommendations for services and support that are likely to be needed, and conversations about potential or likely challenges to access. For more information please email Cathy Bulley
